ABOUT US

There is a distance between building and architecture. One shelters the body, while the latter shelters the self; absorbing memory and accumulating change. Our inquiry is into how proportion, material, light, and threshold can conspire to charge the everyday with meaning.

Studio &fold is a Brooklyn-based architecture and interior design firm whose work exists in the dialogue between the rigor of architecture and the freedom of the interior arts. Husband and wife-led, their name expresses the desire to fold clients, friends and collaborators into our work, and our belief in the potential of a simple, well-placed gesture.

ELLEE LEE

Ellee was raised between Seoul and the U.S., where the contrast of cultures and environments shaped an early sensitivity to how architecture quietly influences the way we live. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with the Thesis Award. She went on to receive her Master of Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she expanded her perspective on contemporary design. Her education grounded her in both classical principles and a deep respect for design as a lived experience.

Over the course of a decade, Ellee worked at NADAAA, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Thomas Juul-Hansen and Yabu Pushelberg - leading projects across scales and typologies, from high-end residences to hospitality and large-scale urban developments.

She founded &fold in 2018 to pursue work that is rooted in clarity, restraint, and a deep respect for context. Her work is an act of distillation in pursuit of spaces that are calm, tactile, and quietly emotive; her process deeply collaborative, involving clients, consultants, and craftsmen alike, with the belief that enduring design emerges from shared intention and care. With each project, she seeks to create environments that are not only well-made, but sensitively attuned to how people live, feel, and gather.

JJ YEO

JJ brings a global perspective to architecture shaped by over a decade of experience working across Asia, Europe, and North America. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture, balancing formal rigor with conceptual depth.

He has contributed to large-scale mixed-use developments and complex urban projects at the offices of KPF, Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Buro Ole Scheeren. As Associate Director at the New York office of Singapore-based practice SCDA, JJ played a key role in bridging architecture and real estate development, gaining fluency in navigating New York City’s built environment; while leading cross-continental teams on projects as far-flung as Antigua, Wyoming and Dubai.

His portfolio spans high-end residential, cultural, commercial, and hospitality work, unified by a focus on precision, clarity, and responsiveness to context. Beyond architecture, JJ’s work in the graphic arts, photography, and object design reflects a broader curiosity and visual sensibility. He brings a disciplined yet open approach, marrying creative exploration with technical expertise to deliver solutions that are both thoughtful and enduring.
