DR Townhouse

O N G O I N G
After careful consideration of the townhouse’s original condition, the design was reimagined to support the quiet evolution of a young family. What began as a home for three gradually became a house for five, and the architecture followed suit. Once fragmented and layered with faux detail, the interior was pared back to create open, resilient spaces shaped for everyday life.
The most significant transformation occurred on the garden level—once the darkest, most overlooked part of the house. A new structural opening at the rear now draws in natural light and centers the kitchen and family room as the heart of the home. The backyard was regraded and a large tree removed to bring clarity and light to both inside and out—establishing a more continuous relationship between domestic life and garden. Above, a new penthouse floor supports an urban garden, offering utility, respite, and a vertical extension of space.
Throughout the house, original elements were preserved; carrying new meaning alongside new details, with restraint and purpose. The result is a home that feels grounded and generous—rooted in daily ritual, open to change, and built to last.
