Interior Design I Development I Renovation
Located in New York’s Chelsea gallery district, this once-horse stable had been converted into multi-family building. Situated on a busy street near the High Line, the place was a plain white box on first encounter. Presented with this seemingly blank canvas, we stripped away walls and exposed its bones; breathing life back into a what was a forgotten vessel. A great deal of time was spent on the interior architecture of the space; re-imaging circulation, connections between spaces and most importantly, creating a large, open and almost gallery-like volume. Our goal was to create a timeless, minimal, yet warm and elegant loft, sympathetic with its past and considerate of the clients’ needs.
The notion of apparent simplicity became a key design element in this project: it was about reinventing a certain type of minimalism and sophistication where the light, volumes and proportions would be as important as the refined interior details and materials.
